Enthusiastic crowds and hard work by the committee ensure that Stow Sports week is always a fantastic event in the village.
Attractions include various football matches, a kids treasure hunt, tossing the sheaf, a tug-o-war and the traditional grueling Hillheid Race. The week’s highlight on Friday is the fancy dress competition. Hours of hard work by the children and their parents always make the judges’ decisions very difficult as they compete for the prestigious Keddie Cup. The fun continues in traditional style at the family disco in the town hall afterwards.
Saturday sports day is the climax of the weeks activities. You can expect a keenly-contested programme of track and field athletics, as well as novelty and cycle races to make a great day out for participators and spectators alike. Stow Pipe Band will be on hand between events to add to the atmosphere and encouragement. In the evening the town hall will be rocking at the Sports Dance, marking the end of the sports week.
