The back road from Stow to Ferniehurst farm will be closed to all traffic for three weeks in August. All vehicles will be required to travel through Stow on to the A7 instead.
The existing masonry structure carrying the C11 road over the Crumside Burn is in poor condition and has reached the end of its life. Works are planned to demolish the existing structure and replace it with a new modern equivalent. The new bridge will include improved drainage, road construction and parapets but will retain grass verges and be finished in masonry to suit its surroundings.
Due to the nature of the works it is, unfortunately, necessary to impose a full road closure of around 3-4 weeks at the location of the bridge. Preparatory works will begin in advance of the closure and finishing works will be undertaken once the road is re-open.
Scotish Borders Council confirms that the current plans are:
· w/c 8th August: preparatory works
· w/c 15th August: implementation of 3 week road closure for demolition of existing structure and installation of new
