Detectives in Galashiels are appealing for information following fires in Stow.
Around 2.25am on Sunday, 17 March 2024, emergency services responded to a fire within a farm shed located in a field off Earlston Road.
It was established that around 90 bales of hay were destroyed.
On Tuesday, 5 March 2024, approximately 60 bales of hay that were stored in a separate shed were destroyed in a fire on land off Earlston Road.
Detective Constable Louise Begley of CID said: “We believe these two incidents are connected and we are investigating them as wilful fire raising.
“I am appealing to anyone with any information to come forward by contacting Police Scotland on 101, quoting 0454 of 17 March 2024 or alternatively reporting via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
UPDATED, TUESDAY 19 March:
We are carrying out enquiries after 200 bales of hay were destroyed at a fire in a barn in Stow around 11.30pm on Monday, 18 March, 2024.
