Community Council meeting
The first Parish of Stow Community Council meeting of 2023 will be at 7.30 at Stow Station House on Monday 9th January. These meetings are public and all are welcome.
Scottish Borders Council services
SBC refuse collections will be operating as normal this week and community recyling centres are also open again following the festive break. Christmas trees can be taken to any community recycling centre for composting. SBC contact centres and phone lines reopen from 4 January. Further details available on the SBC website.
Rail industrial action
Further industrial action across the Great Britain railway network has begun which will affect most rail services from 3rd to 7th January. Some services on the Borders Railway will be cancelled at commuting times and each evening. Please check the ScotRail website for further details.
Hogmanay Bonfire preparation
Stow Hogmanay bonfire build will take place on Friday 30th at the Quoiting Green. The Sports Committee will go round the village with a trailer on the day so please contact them for an uplift.
Met Office Yellow Alert!
YELLOW ALERT FOR SNOW AND ICE has been issued for Edinburgh, Lothian and Scottish Borders. Snow and ice may make travelling difficult across central and southern Scotland during Saturday and into Sunday morning. Take care when travelling: roads and pavements may be slippy. Community cycle rides

Railway Industrial Action
Industrial action will see service reductions across Scotland in December, including trains to and from Stow. From Tuesday 13 December until Saturday 17 December, services will be reduced in the mornings and will cease early every evening. Further information available on the ScotRail website.
Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair
COMING TO STOW THIS WEEKEND, Christmas Arts and Crafts will be on sale, provided by local artists and crafters. Visit Stow Station House on Saturday 3 December from 1.00pm until 6.00pm. Mulled wine or coffee available. Free entry!
Christmas Celebration Concert

Stow Christmas Fair, Saturday 10 December
TOMORROW! The Stow St Mary of Wedale and Heriot Church Christmas Fair is back in Stow Town Hall on Saturday 10 December. Stalls will include Cake & Candy, Gifts, Tombola and the ever-popular Pet Stockings! Come and view the children’s Christmas card competition entries. Admission £2, Schoolchildren £1.
