Members of the community have noticed the increase in litter around and about the village and its environs. Clean Up Scotland is a nation wide initiative launched by the charity Keep Scotland Beautiful, which seeks to remove the litter and mess that is blighting landscapes and causing social, health & economic damage to the country.
You can:
1. Organise a clean up event in your local area (www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/register).
2. Sign the Clean Up Scotland Pledge (www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/pledge).
3. Follow the Clean Up Scotland campaign on Facebook & Twitter (CleanUpScotland and @CleanUpScotland).
4. Donate to the campaign (with £50, we can kit out a school with a kit for a clean up) – www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/donate.
5. Report incidents of littering, fly tipping, graffiti and DOG FOULING (www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/report).
6. Send through your stories & photos of clean up events! (info@cleanupscotland.com) so that we can encourage others to do the same.
The Community Council will be encouraging the schools to take part. By encouraging people to pick up a piece of litter on the way to school, work or anywhere, you are establishing a new social norm/change of behaviour.
