Stephen Riddell, Bike Mechanic, will be holding a training session at the Station House bike hub (tomorrow) Sunday 14th November for people who may like to volunteer as part of the Cycle Hub team to repair bikes and keep our wheels spinning. This will be the first session aimed at volunteers and will be an advanced session for keen bike mechanics. A basic level training session will be held in the near future.
This first training session will run from 2pm to 4pm and will include an opportunity for several young people to begin the Velotech foundation plus, formal qualification in bike mechanics. But we want people of all ages to come along and develop their skills and to help the rest of the community.
Stow Cycle Hub aims to have a team of volunteers who will be fully trained in basic and more advanced bike repairs. In return, we ask that they give some of their time to work, when able, in the Cycle Hub to help the rest of the community keep their bikes working well. Our aim at Stow Cycle Hub is that bikes are, as much as possible, used as an alternative mode of transport to cars. Working together as a community, we can learn to make a real change to our impact on the environment.
Please can you let us know if you would like to volunteer and attend this first session as places will be limited. This is a great opportunity develop your knowledge and skills. CONTACT THE GROUP THROUGH THE SCT WEBSITE
