Stow Pipe Band Update

You may have heard of the success of the Pipe Band at competitions over the last 2 seasons, World Champions in 2011 in Grade 4A and this year Scottish Champions in Grade 3B! This is mainly due to Stow Pipe Band joining forces with Hawick pipe band to form the Scottish Borders Pipe Band. The band plays in 2 tartans to represent both Stow and Hawick heritage. The pipers wear Cameron of Erracht and the drummers use the Hawick Tartan.

Fear not, Stow is not losing its Pipe Band! On the contrary this success is attracting new members into Band. This amalgamation is only for competing purposes, we are still performing all our normal engagements as Stow Pipe Band.

With the support of a Wind Farm Grant we have set up a Pipe and Drum School for anyone who wishes to learn the pipes or drums. This is now in it’s 2nd year and is proving very successful. We have secured top tutors from Grade 1 Pipe bands to reach every Tues (drumming) and Wed (Piping) so if anyone is interested please contact Stuart Robinson (Pipe Major) on stu.lainey@btinternet.com or 01896 750617.
