At Stow school everyone has settled back into their new classes. We are pleased to welcome Mrs Fairbairn, Mr Hunter and Mrs Wilkinson who have joined our staff. We were all very sad to say goodbye to Miss Graham who has moved to Knowepark as Acting Deputy Head teacher. We look forward to welcoming Miss Matthewson who is joining our staff as Acting Principal Teacher soon.
The children are all very busy! They have all been involved in producing an item for the Stow Flower Show as a home learning task. The children all took their finished pieces of work to the Town Hall. They looked wonderful!
Congratulations to Max Logan and Heather Stuart who are this year’s Junior Road Safety Officers.(JRSO). In August Max and Heather attended the JRSO conference in Galashiels.
This term our Primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils are taking part in the Woodland Trust’s ‘Jubilee Woods project’. The project will culminate in the children helping to create a new native woodland to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.
The project at Halkburn Wood, on the Torwoodlee and Buckholm estate, is one of only 60 Diamond woods (each of 60 acres) in the country. It is anticipated that planting will take place towards the end of September.
