The Fountainhall Women’s Rural Institute hosts monthly meetings with talks and demonstrations on diverse topics.
New members and guests are always welcome. Meetings are held in Fountainhall Village Hall at 7.30pm on the third Wednesday of each month (except July and August)
The SWRI (Scottish Women’s Rural Institute)
- encourages home skills
- considers family welfare and citizenship
- preserves the traditions of rural Scotland
- enhances awareness of Scotland’s rural heritage
- works for international co-operation and understanding amongst women
- encourages home and local small industries, both individual and co-operative

The rural is held at Fountainhall monthly which is only a few miles north of Stow . The best person to contact is Margret White who lives in Anvil cottage, Galashiels road Stow. We have been here 39 years and really love the village
